published: 01/05/18 by Town of Seabrook Island

— WINTER WEATHER UPDATE —

TOWN OFFICES WILL RE-OPEN ON MON. January 8TH

Representatives of the Town took part in a Charleston County conference call at 3:00 pm on 5 January. There was no additional update from the National Weather Service. As indicated during the earlier conference call 5 January, overnight temperatures 5 January are expected to be in the teens and low 20’s with no forecast of precipitation.

Charleston County Emergency Management will change its emergency readiness status to OPCON 4 at 5:00 pm on 5 January and its emergency operations will cease at that time, including the Citizen Information Line. SC DOT is continuing its road clearing operations 5 and 6 January and reported that some roads remain icy and that shaded areas of roads have icy patches. With persistent ice on roads and potential for re-freezing overnight, all residents are encouraged to drive only when absolutely necessary. Particular caution is advised for driving during evening hours when temperatures are falling below freezing and morning hours before temperatures have risen above freezing.

As previously stated, the Town of Seabrook Island will reopen for regular business hours on 8 January (8:00 am to 4:00 pm).

Charleston County has not scheduled any additional Winter Weather Advisory conference calls. Unless circumstances merit further updates before, the next update is expected to be issued on 8 January.
