ATAX Advisory Committee
The Seabrook Island Accommodations Tax (ATAX) Advisory Committee is a local advisory committee which was established by Town Council pursuant to Section 6-4-25 of the S.C. Code of Laws.
The ATAX Advisory Committee consists of seven members, a majority of whom are selected from the hospitality industry. At least two of the members must be from the lodging industry and at least one member shall represent local cultural organizations. Committee members are appointed by Town Council and serve for a term of two years. The ATAX Advisory Committee meets at least one time per year for the purpose of reviewing and providing recommendations to Town Council on the expenditure of funds generated by the 2% State ATAX. By law, State ATAX funds must be used exclusively for the promotion of tourism, arts and cultural activities within the community. To view agendas and minutes for the ATAX Advisory Committee, please click here. ATAX GrantsOrganizations requesting ATAX funding from the town must complete and submit an ATAX Grant Application. All funding requests will be reviewed by the ATAX Advisory Committee. The committee's recommendations will be presented to Town Council prior to adoption of the annual budget ordinance.
