SATAX Advisory Committee

The Seabrook Island State Accommodations Tax (SATAX) Advisory Committee is a local advisory committee which was established by Town Council pursuant to Section 6-4-25 of the S.C. Code of Laws.
The SATAX Advisory Committee consists of seven members, a majority of whom are selected from the hospitality industry. At least two of the members must be from the lodging industry and at least one member shall represent local cultural organizations. Committee members are appointed by Town Council and serve for a term of two years. The SATAX Advisory Committee meets at least one time per year for the purpose of reviewing and providing recommendations to Town Council on the expenditure of funds generated by the 2% SATAX. By law, SATAX funds must be used exclusively for the promotion of tourism, arts and cultural activities within the community. To view agendas and minutes for the SATAX Advisory Committee, please click here. SATAX GrantsOrganizations requesting SATAX funding from the town must complete and submit an SATAX Grant Application. All funding requests will be reviewed by the SATAX Advisory Committee. The committee's recommendations will be presented to Town Council prior to adoption of the annual budget ordinance.
