Councilman Darryl May
Councilman Darryl May and his wife, Susan, bought their home on Seabrook Island in 2015 and became full-time residents in 2021. Prior to moving here, they lived in the Philadelphia area where they had worked and raised their family of three daughters.
In his nearly 40-year legal career, Councilman May was a commercial litigator with a specialty in consumer financial services class action litigation. During most of his career, he was a partner in a large Philadelphia-based law firm. He finished his career as Deputy General Counsel in charge of managing litigation at one of the nation’s largest banks. One of his civic accomplishments in Philadelphia was being part of a small team that developed and maintained the Philadelphia Commerce Court, a business court that is part of the Philadelphia trial court system and which has been credited with enhancing the business climate in the city. Since moving to Seabrook Island full time, he has served on the Seabrook Island Property Owner Association's Architectural Review Committee and the Seabrook Island Club’s House Committee. Councilman May was elected to Town Council in November 2023. Town Service
