Beach Patrol

Since 2017, the Town of Seabrook Island has contracted with Barrier Island Ocean Rescue for the provision of beach patrol services on all beaches within the town limits. In 2023, Beach Patrol personnel will be on the beach daily between April 1st and September 30th.

All members of the Seabrook Island Beach Patrol possess an open water lifeguard certification from the U.S. Lifesaving Association. They also receive extensive first aid training, including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED's). 

Members of the Seabrook Island Beach Patrol render a variety of services to beachgoers, including:
  • first aid assistance;
  • water rescue;
  • swim assistance;
  • boat assistance;
  • treatment of jellyfish stings;
  • reuniting lost children with their families; and
  • providing general information to the public. 
​Several Beach Patrol employees have also been deputized by the town as a code enforcement officers. Under the terms of the contract, at least one code enforcement officer must be on the beach at all times when Beach Patrol is present. Code enforcement officers are authorized to issue citations for any violation of the town’s beach rules.

​For police, fire or medical emergencies on any of the town's beaches (even when in doubt), DIAL 911.
