Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 1:00PM, for the purpose of hearing and deciding applications for variances, special exceptions and appeals of administrative decisions. All meetings are scheduled by the Chair with at least 24 hours' public notice.

For cases involving a specific property, the complete submittal package must be provided to the Zoning Administrator at least 40 days prior to the scheduled meeting date. 

For cases involving a public hearing, additional methods of public notice may be provided as required by law, including:

• Publication of a legal ad in the Charleston Post & Courier at least 15 days prior to the hearing date;
• Posting conspicuous notice on or adjacent to the subject property at least 15 days prior to the hearing date;
• Providing notification to interested parties at least 15 days prior to the hearing date; and
• Providing written notice to neighboring property owners, regimes and property owners' associations at least 30 days prior to the hearing date.

Unless otherwise stated on the agenda, all meetings of the Board of Zoning Appeals will take place at Seabrook Island Town Hall. Agendas will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of each meeting. All meetings are open to the public and will be live streamed on the town's YouTube channel. ​
