Disaster Recovery Council
The purpose of the Disaster Recovery Council is to assist with the preparation for, response to and recovery from natural disasters and other emergencies in the Town of Seabrook Island.
The Disaster Recovery Council brings together representatives from a variety of community organizations in an effort to enhance communication and improve coordination among key entities before, during and after an emergency. The Disaster Recovery Council conducts at least two training exercises per year. During these exercises, representatives from member organizations will meet with a trained facilitator to review and discuss emergency procedures contained within the town's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. These procedures are then tested and evaluated in a simulated emergency situation. Following each training exercise, members of the Disaster Recovery Council will identify and recommend potential improvements to the town's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan in an effort to better plan for, and respond to, future emergencies.
