Councilman Skip Crane
Councilman Skip Crane and his wife, Lynn, moved to Seabrook Island in 1995. He is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and has also lived in Boston, MA and Atlanta, GA. Councilman Crane spent 30 years at IBM, where he specialized in marketing, consulting and team leadership. During his first 13 years on the island, Councilman Crane worked as a consultant to the South Carolina Research Authority, an independent agency set up in the 1980’s to foster economic growth across the state of South Carolina.
Following his retirement from SCRA in 2009, Councilman Crane became active in various Seabrook Island volunteer efforts, including the Seabrook Island Property Owners’ Association’s Environmental, Safety and Long-Range Planning Committees. Following his election to Town Council in 2015, Councilman Crane served as the town’s liaison to several community organizations, including the Seabrook Island Property Owners’ Association, Camp St. Christopher, Bohicket Marina and the Seabrook Island Club. From 2015 to 2019, he was responsible for coordinating the town’s communication and strategic planning efforts.
